Frequently Asked Questions
About KLU, the UAE marketplace for licensed home-based kitchens
What is KLU?
KLU is a UAE marketplace that connects licensed home-based kitchens with customers ordering authentic home-cooked food. It is built specifically for home chefs operating under UAE home business licences such as Tajer Abu Dhabi and Intelaq Dubai, who are typically unable to list on Talabat or Noon Food.
How do I order on KLU?
Customers can order on KLU through the iOS app, the Android app, or directly through a seller's menu link shared by a home chef.
Is KLU available in Dubai?
Yes. KLU operates across the UAE, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with onboarding for licensed home chefs in every emirate.
How is KLU different from Talabat and Noon Food?
Talabat, Noon Food, Deliveroo, and Careem Food require vendors to hold a commercial kitchen licence and pass commercial municipality inspections. KLU is built for the home-based food business segment, which holds a different category of UAE licence (Tajer, Intelaq, or SME exempted) and is currently excluded from those mainstream platforms.
Can I sell home-cooked food legally in the UAE?
Yes, provided you hold the correct licence. The main pathways are Tajer Abu Dhabi (for Emiratis), Intelaq Dubai, and SME exempted licences. KLU requires every vendor on the platform to hold a valid UAE home business licence.
How much does KLU charge home chefs?
KLU is free to join, with no listing fees, subscription fees, or setup fees. KLU only charges a 5% commission on completed orders.
How do I sign up as a home chef on KLU?
Home chefs can join the KLU waitlist at klu.ae. Onboarding requires a copy of a valid UAE home business licence.
